Enamel began as a gemstone substitute, with early examples like a Mycenaean cloisonné ring. Over time, it evolved across cultures into forms like Chinese cloisonné and Limoges enamel. My practice begins with this historical foundation, aiming to revive the essence of enamel in today's world.
I explored six enamel techniques—such as painted, pencil, and spray enamel—creating over twenty distinct effects. This experimentation helped me find the most fitting method to honor enamel’s original intent.
The medium’s evolution mirrors my own journey: from childhood mimicry to teenage rebellion, and ultimately, self-discovery. I’ve learned that true individuality lies not in rejecting the past, but in embracing it while forging my own path.
This work invites enamel to face its origins honestly while expanding its role in the present.
